Luiz Felipe ScolariThe Brazilian who won the 2002 World Cup is now odds-on with some bookmakers after hinting that he may seek a new job after Euro 2008 and would be ready to move abroad.
Verdict: Lack of European club experience could be problematic
Frank Rijkaard
The Dutchman won a La Liga and Champions League double with Barcelona in 2006 while playing beautiful football, which is the stuff Abramovich dreams of. However, he was sacked by Barca after their title bid collapsed in the second half of the season.
Verdict: Offers the style that Roman craves
Carlo Ancelotti
Like Rijkaard he has won both league titles and the Champions League (twice) in the past but endured a poor season, finishing fifth with AC Milan and failing to qualify for the Champions League. Ancelotti is rumoured to have twice turned down the Chelsea job this summer.
Verdict: Doesn't seem to want it
Roberto Mancini
Last week it was reported that Mancini was set to meet Abramovich but now his odds are 14/1. He took constant underachievers Inter Milan to three straight league titles but failed to achieve anything in the Champions League.
Verdict: Arguably the strongest candidate
Guus Hiddink
He is supposedly good friends with Abramovich but it's extremely unlikely he will move now after making it clear he wishes to stay with Russia until 2010.
Verdict: A big outsider
Zico
While managing Fenerbahce last season he beat Chelsea 2-1 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final but despite leaving the Turkish club, it's hard to see him being given the Chelsea job above guys who have achieved bigger things in their managerial career.
Verdict: Not enough experience
Marcello Lippi
The Italian World Cup winning boss hasn't been mentioned despite admitting he is ready to return to management but doesn't expect to join an Italian club.
Verdict: Worth sticking a quid on
