The ghost of Tottenham goalkeeping errors past will return to White Hart Lane to haunt his replacement Heurelho Gomes on Sunday when Spurs take on Blackburn. Both sides start the weekend in the relegation zone but it looks like neither side will get the win they need to climb half-a-dozen places as the draw seems the most likely outcome. Here’s why:
» Five of the last seven clashes between the two sides have finished level.
» Blackburn have drawn in three of their last six league games.
» The visitors didn’t win a league game throughout November last year, drawing two of their fixtures during that month.
» Spurs have won just one of their last four home games against Paul Ince’s side, with two finishing level.
Any other business:
» Three of the last four clashes between the two sides have finished 1-1 and the only one that didn’t was because Christopher Samba scored in the last minute to make the score 2-1. The 1-1 draw is available at 8.2 with Betfair.
» Benni McCarthy, who has scored two in his last three games, returns from suspension for this fixture and he has scored on each of his previous visits to White Hart Lane. The South African is 3/1 with Boylesports and Paddy Power to score at any time.
» None of Tottenham’s current players have scored a goal for the club against Blackburn. Only Robbie Keane, Dimitar Berbatov, Jermain Defoe and Mido have scored for Spurs against them in the last six years.
