Berbatov, Rooney and Tevez 7 Cristiano Ronaldo 8
Where would the champions be if Ronaldo had left for Madrid?
As a consequence of Sir Alex Ferguson’s attempts to accomodate Dimitar Berbatov, Cristiano Ronaldo is no longer the focal point of every Manchester United attack but despite that he has scored more league goals this season than Berbatov, Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney combined.
Ronaldo has eight goals compared to Rooney’s three, Berbatov’s two and Tevez’s one and also has a far superior minutes per goal ratio than any of his teammates:
| Player | Minutes per league goal |
| Cristiano Ronaldo | 104 |
| Wayne Rooney | 298 |
| Dimitar Berbatov | 468 |
| Carlos Tevez | 561 |
Dimitar Berbatov has played every minute of all ten league matches he has started whereas Ronaldo and Rooney have completed seven, while Tevez has completed just three. Perhaps Ferguson is worriedthe Bulgarian might react to being substituted like Barcelona’s Bojan.
