IG Sport expect a goalfest at the Emirates this weekend

An Arsenal/Wigan preview from the spread betting experts

Our friends from spread betting firm IG Sport are here to tell us why they expect lots of goals when two unpredictable teams collide at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon:

If there’s one thing that you can rely on Arsenal for it’s their unreliability. Already this season they have gone from recording comfortable victories over Everton, Fenerbahce and West Ham, all by margins of two goals or more, to a home draw with Tottenham and defeat to Stoke. They’ve gone from beating Manchester United to losing against Aston Villa and Manchester City and from having their kids humiliate capable clubs to seeing their established players humbled with alarming regularity. Just this week they have gone from beating Chelsea to losing at Burnley.

Their opponents Wigan are much the same. Not long ago they couldn’t buy three points but now they have won successive games and climbed to eleventh. What happens when two inconsistent teams collide? IG Sport reckon there’ll be goals and price their total goals market at 2.9-3.1, their total goal minutes market at 149-159 and have their time of first goal quote set at a lowly 32-35. This may look high but there is definitely value in buying at 3.1, as Arsenal’s home league games have an average of 3.43 goals while Wigan away games have an average of 3.14.
