Our plan to ensure we survived Big Brother launch night wasn’t a complete success. We managed to last the course but struggled to initially remember more than a handful of names (why not make them wear name tags for the first week, considering they don’t remember each other’s either?).
One of the trend points we made in our preview was that any nationality can triumph and the producers decided to go for an international blend this year with contestants from Ireland (Noirin), Brazil (Rodrigo), Russia (Angel), Pakistan (Beinazir), America (Cairon), Scotland (Karly), Iran (Siavash), India (Sree) and England of course.
The early favourite is cheerful Rodrigo at 4/1 but as we mentioned yesterday the initial frontrunner hasn’t triumphed for a number of years. The housemate who made the biggest impression on us was Cairon, who at 18 is younger than previous winners but he lived an eventful life. He was born in London but moved to America only to come back after his mother died in a car accident. A quick glance at comments on his Big Brother profile shows that he is very popular with the ladies. Sophia got a good reception on arrival.
This year’s inane early twist is that everyone has to earn the right to become a housemate, with Rodrigo and Noirin becoming the first two last night after she let the Brazilian shave her eyebrows. We thought the Irish lass’ ballsiness in volunteering herself would impress the public, as well as ensuring her a lot of airtime over the first few days, but she is still 20/1 with Boylesports.
