Murray is now just 5/2 to win Wimbledon with two bookies
Ladbrokes and 888sport cut Murray’s price after Queen’s victory
Andy Murray has been slashed to just 5/2 to win at Wimbledon after sealing his first ever grass court title at Queen’s yesterday.
The world number three triumphed without ever being seriously tested so his price shift may owe just as much to the fact Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are heading to SW19 without having competed on grass while Novak Djokovic failed to win in Halle.
Those question marks over the other leading contenders have proven enough to persuade both Ladbrokes and 888sport to cautiously cut the price on Murray becoming the first Brit to win the men’s singles at Wimbledon since Fred Perry in 1936.
Nadal did a Queen’s/Wimbledon double last year but that was only the second time one has been completed this decade, with the previous coming courtesy of Lleyton Hewitt in 2002.

Two words that say Murray won’t wim Wimbledon: Roger. Federer. He’s won it five times, Murray never. He’s won 14 grand slams, Murray none. He’s been in 19 grand slam finals, Murray one - when he lost to Federer on Murray’s favourite surface. Okay, Murray won Queens but even Jeremy Bates would have had a chance this year. Put your house, car, cat and girlfriend on Federer. I’m in for £60.
