AC Milan will once again kick Manchester United to the European curb
Back man on right to knock man on left out of Europe
Carlo Ancelotti’s work so far at Chelsea can’t really be faulted but we were always of the opinion that his spell as AC Milan boss was often overrated.
Two Champions League winners’ medals overshadowed a decade as boss of first Juventus and then the Rosseneri in which he only won Serie A once. And whereas his last two seasons at the San Siro saw the club fighting - and failing on one occasion - just to qualify for the Champions League, his rookie replacement Leonardo is at least making Inter Milan consider them a threat, despite the summer loss of Kaka.
It’s not just Inter Milan and Juventus - swatted aside with ease 3-0 in Turin last night - who need to take notice of the renaissance at Milanello. Their fellow Red Devils, Manchester United, should also be afraid.
Not only have the reigning English champions been awful recently, they have also gone out on the two previous occasions that they have been paired with the Italian giants, most recently in 2007.
AC Milan’s appetite for the big occasions was shown to still exist when they won at the Bernabeu and right now they look a steal at 7/4 with Boylesports to boot last year’s runners-up out of the competition and edge closer to a May return to the Spanish capital.
