Eleven brilliant betting statistics for Spurs/Pompey

Spurs/Portsmouth, Sun 4pm, Sky Sports 1, Free Bets, Best Odds

Obviously this game is of huge importance because it sees two clubs in desperate need of three points collide but the collision is also littered with so many subplots (Harry Redknapp v Portsmouth, Tony Adams v Tottenham, Jermain Defoe v Pompey, Sol Campbell v Spurs). Here are eleven of our favourite stats that could help you bet on this weekend’s big match:

1. Despite being in the relegation zone, Spurs have the fourth best home defence in the Premier League, having conceded just seven goals in ten games at White Hart Lane.

2. Spurs haven’t led any of their last eleven games in all competitions at half-time and have been ahead at the break in just two league games all season. Portsmouth have led just one league game under Tony Adams at half-time (versus Hull) and on that occasion ended up drawing.

3. The North Londoners have won all five of their Premier League home games against Portsmouth.

4. Since Harry Redknapp’s arrival Spurs have lost just one of eleven home games in all competitions. Their last two league games at the Lane finished 0-0.

Tottenham’s revival under Redknapp could be finished

The stats show alarming similarities with twelve months ago

chickendinner thought that after ten Premier League games at White Hart Lane, it was a good time to examine Harry Redknapp’s performance as Tottenham manager and we were shocked by what we found.

Redknapp’s record from his first ten league games for the club reads five wins, two draws and three defeats, which is identical to Juande Ramos’ performance when he first arrived in North London.

Six reasons why Arsenal will go clear in the Big Four league

Arsenal/Liverpool, 4pm Sunday, Sky Spts 1, Best Odds, Free Bets

They might be nowhere near the top of the table that matters - the Premier League table - but Arsenal are ahead of Liverpool on goals scored in the Big Four head-to-head standings. Both sides defeated Manchester United 2-1 at home and beat Chelsea by a goal at Stamford Bridge but here’s why Arsenal will pull three points clear of their own mini-league this week, giving Chelsea the chance to reclaim the top spot that matters on Monday night:

1. Liverpool have won just one of their last four Premier League games and that was against struggling Blackburn, They have also been beaten on their last two trips to North London by Tottenham.

2. The league leaders have won just three of their last thirteen away games in the capital.

Paddy Power’s brilliant Super Sunday money-back special

Bets refunded if the team leading at half-time screws it all up

Paddy Power will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast bets if the team who lead at half-time don’t go on to win the match. Here are some reasons why this is a great offer:

» Liverpool have the best second-half record in the Premier League this season. The only occasion where they have been outscored after the break was on their last league trip to North London when they led 1-0 only to be beaten 2-1.

» Arsenal have come from behind not only to draw but to win twice already this season against Chelsea and Everton while Liverpool have performed complete turnarounds on Manchester City and Wigan.

Five reasons why Manchester United won’t beat Tottenham

Spurs/Man Utd, 5.30pm Sat, Setanta Spts 1, Best Odds, Free Bets

(Photo Credit: Martin Rickett, PA Wire)

There is more at stake for Tottenham’s players than the chance to earn the crowds’ adulation by giving Dimitar Berbatov a kick or two - they are defending an unbeaten record against the Big Four this season. Manchester United have their own proud seven-and-a-half year unbeaten streak over Spurs to protect. Of course the only way to maintain both sequences would be with a draw, which is 13/5 with 888sport and Boylesports. Here are five reasons why Spurs won’t be beaten:

1. Tottenham are unbeaten against the Big Four this season having drawn away to Arsenal and Chelsea and picked up home wins over Liverpool in both the Premier League and the Carling Cup.

2. The champions have won just one of their last eight away games in London. Besides a win against Fulham, the Red Devils have drawn twice and lost once at Chelsea, drawn and lost at Arsenal, drawn at Tottenham and lost to West Ham over the last nineteen months.

Watford 4/1 to complete a Championship hat-trick in tonight’s family showdown

Watford/Tottenham, 7.45pm, Sky Sports 1, Best Odds, Free Bets

Brother-in-law meets brother-in-law tonight at Vicarage Road as former West Ham management duo Harry Redknapp and Frank Lampard Snr find themselves on opposite sides of the dugout. Last season’s Carling Cup winners Tottenham are the favourites but Watford have already taken one Premier League side out of the competition this season:

PREMIER LEAGUE 0 CHAMPIONSHIP 2
The first two Carling Cup quarter-finals saw Championship sides Burnley and Derby overcome Arsenal and Stoke. With Blackburn and Manchester United facing off in the other last eight clash there is definitely going to be one Premier League representative in the final four but will Watford win to replicate last season’s FA Cup, where three of the four semi-finalists were from the second tier?

QUARTER-FINAL RECORDS
Since 2002, Watford have won all three quarter-finals that they have participated in. Even more significantly, those campaigns - FA Cup 2002-03, Carling Cup 2004-05, FA Cup 2006-07 - have been on a two-year rotation system, meaning that they are due to reach the Carling Cup semi-finals in 2008-09. In comparison, Tottenham have lost six of their eight over that time, including two in the Carling Cup. In 2004-05 Harry Redknapp took Portsmouth to the quarter-finals where they were beaten 3-0 away to Watford, although he had resigned six days prior to the fixture.
