Taylor fancied in one-man tournament

Wade withdrawal leads to slashed odds

You could be forgiven for thinking that with odds of 6/5, Phil Taylor will merely have to turn up to win this year’s US Open darts.

The withdrawal of rival James Wade saw his odds come down further from 13/8, giving ‘the Power’ a remarkable price for a 64-man tournament.

I guess a parallel could be made to the Masters golf where Tiger Woods was backed at almost evens on the basis that he’s the best player in the world but he failed to justify such odds in the individual tournament.

If you fancy betting against Taylor, the second favourite is Raymond van Barneveld at 4/1 or perhaps even more intriguing are odds of 25/1 on reigning PDC world champion John Part.
